REPORT ABOUT THE TRIP TO NDITAM BY THE ASSOCIATION OF LINUX FRIENDS MOKINDI FROM THE 30th of JULY 2011 TO THE 6th of JULY 2011.

We left Limbe on the Thursday 30-06-2011 at 9am for Yaounde, we arrived Yaounde at 3:20pm, we pass the rest of the day with Hilda Bih at Monte Juvans. The next day we met Dr George and his team and left for Nditam at about 3:00pm. We left so late this day because the President of the Republic was coming back from the 17th Ordinary session of Heads of State and Government of the Africa Union, so the main road was block.

However we arrived Bafia very late in the night when those incharge of the ferry had closed. Some of us spent the night in tent while others spent the night in the bus hired by ASCOVIM. The next day we left very early for Nditam, we arrived Nditam at 9:30am. The village welcome us, We were introduce by Issa Yaphaga to the Chief of Nditam and to the village population, we had breakfast at the chief's house, took our bath and the Medical team started immediately to organised the work of the day, that is consultation, testing diseases in the lab, injection, and people receiving drugs for their treatments.

Michel and Chanceline now went on to check the materials that were carried to this region last year, the materials were still in good state and we received an appreciation letter from a family who according to them has benefited so much from our social works.

Read the letter bellow

Merci Mes vives salutation.

The entire village also wrote another letter(would be coming soon.........................................) we were very impressed, also we install two more solar bulbs in this village, for children to read and for the village to carry out their activities in the evenings.

The villagers were happy to take pictures with us, they offered us bush meat, we also had a friend in the person of Pauline who happen to burn her face from fire flames while frying fresh fish.

Inspite of the drugs, crushes, education and light brought to the population, they also received gifts like biscuits, gateaux, dresses, and sweets.

It was not very easy to take care for Hilder Bih who is a supporter of most social project in Cameroon, she was with us as journalist and reporter of all the happenings. As you can see, she need support to do her job as a journalist.

We plan to open a Linux Center in Nditam and to install solar light in the village, that is each house should at list have two solar light.

Late in the evening, we went to the operation center to encourage those who were to be operated and to weakness the operation. People with hernia were operated, growths, burns, pregnant womens, the wife of a man call Omarou alias elephant gave birth the next day in the morning.

To mark the end of the campaign, the village made some of the visitors who have been coming to Nditam to help the population in one way or another notables or princes. For example Michel is made notable and is given the name Bamenji boqwa. As you can see on the picture, he has a traditional chain on his neck, a bangle and a loin around him making him a notable.

After the installation of princes and notables came a traditional dance from the pygmies and all the population join them in dancing not leaving out a security officer who was there to maintain peace and order.

Live in Nditam is hard, to earn a living, people must work on the farm, hunting, plating, and bike riding.

Furthermore, some students would be coming from Nditam and Ngambe Tikar to stay in the Association of Linux Friends Limbe for studies so that when a center is open in Nditam they would be able to take care.

Please sent your support through the association of linux friends to help the needy, helpless, sick and the hungry onces. Our email is kamerun@immerda.ch or lug.limbe@gmail.com, call us on +237 74 35 14 33 or +237 77 42 69 98. Thanks

This is beautiful! Thanks you for bring back a report on my people. I was not able to fly to the rainforest this year to see them, but now I know that they must still work hard and need assistance. I will reach out to them over the seas, again and hope to make a trip there next year with my son.
