THE AFRICAN CHILD
Street Children
Children make up half of the population of Africa.
Many of these children are reduced to living on the streets,
surviving through begging, theft and violence.
Following the up coming commemoration of the Day Of The African
Child,on the 16th of june 2009,It is the responsibility of each and every one in Africa and in
Cameroon in particular to stop baring children than they can care for
them.
It is also the responsibility of the Forces of Law and Order to
take up the challenges and intensify the fight against Child
Trafficking and child exploitation and Child Labour that are gaining
grounds nowadays in Africa and Cameroon in particular .
I will also use this opportunity to frown at the Practice of
Widow inheritance in some of our communities because this only leads
to the increasing number of Street and helpless children in Africa .
This should also touch the minds of the upper class, aunts and
uncles whose actions are not good in the eyes of God as far as child
labour slavery and discrimination are concerned. Their children are
sent to good schools while the helpless children are kept at home,
subjected to hard labour with empty stomachs. Whats the crime of
these helpless children if i may ask ?
Our Leaders should also think of the plights of these suffering
children and stop embezzling funds that are reserved for the welfare
and common good of these helpless African children. Take the case of a
former minister in Cameroon who have recently been sentenced to life
imprisonment for embezzling the sum of 135 billion fcfa. The question
is what can a group or an individual do with such an amount? To me,
greed is whats pushing our leader to engage in these nasty practices
that only ends up with negative effects turning our young ones into
thieves, others acting like they ain't got feelings while poor children
and homeless children are starving and dying on our beautiful streets
with teeth like rotten corn crack foots and lips making good snapshots
for tourists.
