Biogas production
Biogas production experiment conducted in 26/12/2009
Requirement of the production of biogas
3m plastic bag, a long rubber tube of about 5m , water, waste product like cassava peelings , palmnut wastes, rubbish like decomposed yam wastes, goat dugs, two plastic pipe of different size, a wooding stick, tiring rubbers, 3 wooding sick wastes is 50kg
Duration of the experiment
The experiment started at 4:30 pm and ended at 5 :40pm
Procedure of the experiment
firstly we use 3 wooding plank , one is placed horizontally at the surface of the floor one is place at side vertically and the other the sam .The 3m plastic bag is placed horizontally on the surface on top of the pipe , as u can see on the photos, at the edges of the plastic bag we tied an inlet and outlet pipe with a rubber . ,we enter the wastes into the inlet pipe , while a rubber tube of about 5m is put inside the inlet pipe. water of about 50litre is put into the 3m plastic bag.after the water have been put to the plastic bag , the wastes is being added ie wastes of cassava peelings ,palm nut wastes, yam rubbish , are being put into the inlet pipe with a used of 1.5 m wooding stick whose function is to force the wastes into the inlet pipe directly to the 3m plastic bag , The two pipe ie the outlet and inlet pipe are being tired vertical into the gate so that the water in the 3m plastic sack should not run downward horizontally to the surface.
precaution
At first after tied the 3m plastic bag with the plastic pipe we test with water to ensure that the 3m plastic bag is firmly tied and secondly there is no waste of water flow.

As a gas it is flammable only over a narrow range of concentrations (5–15%) in air.
we are building a secure flame
open question: explosion danger

we change the inlet, so that the gas cannot escape

Since your fermenter was started up, Can you give some indication as to whether biogas has been produced?
