INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION IN LIMBE

The International Women's Day usually comes up every year on the 8th of March. This day is celebrated worldwide .This year, the women population inThe Town of Limbe joined the rest of the world to celebrate this day. The 2009 International Women Day was celebrated under the Theme Men and Women together for the Fight Against Violence on the Girl Child. The day began in Limbe at 08 amthe gathering of the women in the Field. This was followed by a speech by the Senior Divisional Officer (S.D.O) of the FAKO Division. This was followed by a speech by the Provincial Delegete of Women Affaires.Then came the opinions of others. this was followed with traditional dance by the various Traditional Groups.There were also Choral singing.

At the close of the official programs, some of the women retired home while some headed for the drinking spots and night clubs to enjoy themselves. some of those who went home took their husbands out for a drink while some especially the aged women remained home with thier husbands. Those who headed for the night clubs enjoyed themselves to the fullest and only returned home in the early hours of the morning. It was indeed a happy day in Limbe though with few instances of misunderstanding between spouses.
