GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION SUPERVISION REPORT JUNE 2011 SESSION 7090 DATA PROCESSING2-Advanced Level. Accomodation Centre 2026 GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL BUEA.


Date: May 17th 2011

Introduction

The operations started as early as 7.15am with the arrival of candidates.By 7:30am the computer lab was open with a total of 25 computers and a network printer to handle the exercise. The two supervisors were both present on time to handle the operation.Thestudent were assembled in one hall at 7:45am where they were reminded of the necessity to respect examimation norms and to avoid all forms of malpractice that could jeopardize both their efforts and the integrity of the GCE exams. Cell phone were collected and confined till the end of the exams. Periodic checks were conducted to avoid some act of misconduct or to make sure candidates were kept under proper health and safety condition.


Attendance

A total of 64 candidates were officially programmed for this centre as per the attendance register. Four candidates were absent form the exams. Meanwhile, two additional candidates whose names did not future on the attendance register; of Center No: 2689 were present, giving a final total of 66 candidate. An attendance record was conducted. Four condidates were absent whose details we have as follows:


Deliberations

A total of three sessions took place. This was greatly facilitated by a local Are network. Tere were some instances of electrical supply cuts. No instance of malprractice or fraud was witnessed throughout the exam.

Candidate Performance students had a total of two major tasks to carryout in 1 hour 30mins, a database task and a spreadsheet task. Not all the candidates attempted both task. The highest score recorded so far is at 93% while the lowest score 16%. It was observed that most candidates have insufficient input or keyboarding skills while an average number mastered basic operational commands and scored well in their database exwecise.


Evaluation

The marking exercise went on smoothly and all candidate scripts were maked. However, the process took longer than expected because evaluation had to take place both on carried forward the next day, to avoid any rush that could mar the evaluation process and objective.Candidates printed out hardcopies of their work. All softcopies of the work were saved on a flash disk which is included in the pack sent to the GCE board.


Recommendations

Conclusion It can be concluded that the operation at this accommodation centre went on smoothly with the able assistance of two active invigilators to boster the exercise. The operations crowned with the marking, ended at 3.05pm on the 17Thof may 2011.
